FC-SDI-1624 Honeywell

Input: 16-channel galvanically isolated safe digital inputs; nominal 24 VDC input voltage; approximately 7 mA per-channel input current at 24 VDC; 15 VDC high-level input threshold and 5 VDC low-level input threshold; compatible with 2-wire and 3-wire field wiring; provides field circuit diagnostics including open-circuit and short-circuit fault detection; typical response time ≤10 ms.

Output: No physical field output channels; communicates to the safety controller rack via backplane interface; provides current-limited 24 VDC auxiliary power supply for field sensor devices.

FC-SDI-1624 Honeywell Installation Notes

Mounting & Environment: Install the module onto a standard DIN-rail within an enclosed control cabinet. Adequate ventilation clearance shall be reserved around the unit for heat dissipation. The permitted operating ambient temperature spans -40 °C to +70 °C. Keep the module away from heavy vibration, airborne dust, corrosive fumes and direct thermal radiation. ESD protective measures must be taken prior to module handling. Protective earth and signal ground shall be properly isolated with qualified grounding resistance.

Rack & Slot Installation: Slide the module into the coded slot of Honeywell Safety Manager or FSC rack. Never apply brute force during insertion to avoid damaging backplane pins. Ensure the mechanical latch is fully locked after mounting. Follow official slot allocation specifications for safety-related I/O modules.

Power Requirements: Deploy galvanically-isolated 24 VDC power supply operating within rated voltage tolerance. Install appropriate fuses for both system power and field sensor power circuits. Strictly respect polarity for 24 VDC and 0 V terminals. Do not overload the module’s built-in current-limited auxiliary power for field sensors.

Field Wiring: Shielded twisted-pair cables are mandatory for all field input loops. Physically segregate safety signal wiring from high-power and noise-producing cables. Terminate cable shields to cabinet ground only at the module end. Wire strictly in accordance with terminal pin-out diagrams. Select 2-wire or 3-wire connection mode consistent with field devices. Fit correct-value EOL resistors at the remote field side when line diagnostics are activated. Inspect every channel for short-circuit and reverse-polarity conditions before power application.

System & Hardware Configuration: Configure DIP-switch hardware addresses and prevent duplicate addresses within one rack. Complete hardware definition via Safety Builder engineering software. Align channel parameters with real field device characteristics, including PNP/NPN type and EOL supervision setting.

Commissioning Check: Observe and confirm LED status indications after power-on. Review each input channel state and diagnostic alarm messages. Test open-circuit and short-circuit fault detection capability. Verify stable backplane communication between the module and safety controller. Execute full safety-loop functional test prior to plant commissioning.

Safety Compliance: This device is SIL 3 certified safety-instrumented hardware. All installation and modification activities must comply with Honeywell official documentation and local SIS industry standards. De-energize relevant power circuits before module replacement or field rewiring.
