Digital Input Function-Honeywell FC-RUSIO-3224 Remote Universal Safe I/O Module
All 32 multi-purpose channels support independent digital-input mode assignment within Honeywell Safety Builder configuration software. Hardware adjustments are unnecessary when switching channel operating modes.
Signal compatibility: It works with 24 VDC wet-contact field instruments in both PNP and NPN logic, alongside passive dry-contact switches, relay outputs and safety interlock contacts. Its operating voltage spans 10-30 VDC, fully compatible with conventional industrial 24 VDC field power supplies.
Loop diagnostic monitoring: Integrated circuitry provides continuous supervision of field cabling conditions. Detectable failures include cable open-circuit, inter-wire short-circuit, short-to-power and short-to-ground conditions. Fault events generate dedicated diagnostic status bits and alarm notifications, which are forwarded to the Safety Manager controller without additional external hardware.
Input response and SOE timestamping: The module delivers input response time ≤10 ms. It supports Sequence-of-Events recording with 1 ms timestamp precision, accurately logging safety-critical discrete incidents for subsequent incident investigation.
Input filtering configuration: Software-selectable debounce filtering is provided. Adjustable debounce timing suppresses mechanical contact bounce and electrical disturbances, avoiding erroneous state transitions triggered by field-site noise.
Isolation capability: Individual-channel galvanic isolation is implemented. 500 V AC isolation is maintained between neighbouring channels, while 1000 V AC isolation separates field-input circuits from the module’s internal back-end circuits, strengthening noise immunity within demanding industrial environments.
Safety-relevant features: The digital input function meets SIL 3 safety integrity requirements in accordance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 standards. Redundant internal processing architecture guarantees reliable fault handling for safety instrumented loops, including ESD, process interlocks and trip signals.
System data transfer: Once discrete ON/OFF states are acquired, the module transmits digital input readings together with diagnostic data to Honeywell Safety Manager / Safety Manager SC over dual redundant SafeNet Ethernet. Input status can be visualised on HMI panels and utilised for safety logic computation.
