Honeywell 05701-A-0328 Triple SPCO Relay Interface Card

The Honeywell 05701-A-0328 is a triple SPCO relay and field interface card designed for the Honeywell System 57 gas detection system. It receives digital status signals from the upstream single-channel control card through backplane connection.

Once gas concentration hits the predefined A1, A2 and A3 alarm thresholds, or fault/inhibit conditions are triggered, its internal drive circuitry will activate the corresponding SPCO relays.

It supplies isolated voltage-free changeover contacts to transmit alarm, fault and inhibit signals to peripheral devices including DCS, PLC, sounders, beacons and emergency shutdown interlock circuits.

Relay operation logic can be preconfigured as latching or non-latching, normally energized or normally de-energized to satisfy diverse safety specification demands.

This card provides electrical isolation between the gas detection control loop and external field wiring, which suppresses signal interference and safeguards the main control card.

Functioning as a dedicated signal output interface, it converts internal digital alarm status into dry contact switching signals to support reliable safety interlock actions.

Relay Logic Configuration of Honeywell 05701-A-0328

The Honeywell 05701-A-0328 needs no dedicated programming software. All relay logic parameters are set through the on-board menu of the System 57 single-channel control card, and downloaded to the relay interface card over the backplane bus.

The three SPCO relays support independent assignment of trigger sources, including A1 low alarm, A2 high alarm, A3 highest alarm, system fault and inhibit signal.

Each relay offers two working modes: latching and non-latching. The latching type holds its contact state after actuation and demands manual reset, while the non-latching type resets automatically when the trigger condition clears.

Engineers may also configure the energization mode as normally energized or normally de-energized, to satisfy fail-safe criteria for safety interlock circuits.

Once all logic settings are saved on the control card, the relay card will switch its dry-contact outputs in accordance with pre-defined rules upon receiving relevant status commands.

After configuration completion, functional testing via simulated alarm and fault signals is required to validate reliable relay performance prior to official commissioning.
