ABB SPDSO14 Features
The SPDSO14 is a high-density 16-channel open-collector solid-state digital output module designed for ABB Symphony Plus and Harmony DCS rack systems. It adopts optocoupler-based galvanic isolation with a 1500 V DC isolation rating, providing reliable electrical separation between field circuits and internal control logic to effectively prevent surge damage and electromagnetic interference to the system backplane. The module supports a wide field load voltage range of 10 V DC to 48 V DC, fully compatible with standard 24 V DC and 48 V DC industrial field devices. Each output channel delivers a maximum load current of 250 mA at 24 V DC and 125 mA at 48 V DC. Since no internal field power supply is integrated, external customer-supplied auxiliary DC power is required for output loop operation.
The module supports jumper-free hardware setup with all functional parameters configured entirely through DCS system software. Every channel is equipped with an individual front-panel LED indicator to visually display real-time output status, enabling convenient on-site commissioning and rapid fault diagnosis. All channel operating states and module diagnostic data are uploaded continuously to the DCS controller via the rack backplane bus. The module draws 5 V DC ±5% logic power from the system backplane with a typical operating current of 275 mA. It supports hot-swap replacement during normal system operation without interrupting running processes.
Featuring a compact single-slot rack-mounted design, the SPDSO14 optimizes cabinet space and allows high-density I/O layout. It matches the NTDO02 termination unit and is widely applied to drive field solenoid valves, intermediate relays and status indicator lamps. With an operating temperature range of 0 °C to +70 °C, it adapts to standard industrial cabinet environments. The module maintains full compatibility with legacy Bailey INFI 90 and Symphony Harmony systems, making it ideal for system renovation, upgrade and spare part replacement scenarios.
