Wartsila PDM-20/24V, PAAE045082 Functions
This marine-qualified DC power distribution module is purpose-designed for Wärtsilä engine control systems and vessel automation applications.
Centralised 24 V DC power distribution
It accepts dual redundant 24 V DC power inputs and distributes power across 20 dedicated independent output channels. These outputs feed field-mounted sensors, actuators, control circuit boards and other electronic loads housed within engine control cabinets.
Isolated fault-tolerant channel protection
Each output channel is equipped with its own dedicated fuse. A short-circuit or overload occurring on one individual channel disconnects only that affected branch. The main 24 V control bus and all remaining healthy loads continue normal operation, enhancing overall system reliability for safety-critical marine operations.
Redundant power input capability
Two separate DC input circuits provide power redundancy. If one primary power source experiences failure, the second input maintains continuous module operation, eliminating complete power loss for downstream control hardware.
On-site visual fault diagnostics
Individual LED status indicators are assigned to every output channel. Service personnel can rapidly identify blown fuses, over-current events and channel malfunctions locally without additional test instruments, shortening equipment maintenance and fault-repair times on board.
Remote grouped fault alarm relay output
A collective alarm relay contact is integrated into the unit. Once protection activates on any output channel, a combined fault signal can be sent to higher-order supervisory systems, enabling remote fault notification and centralised equipment status oversight.
Power management optimised for marine conditions
Low-resistance internal busbars minimise voltage drop under high-current operating scenarios. The hardware is engineered to withstand engine-room vibration and wide temperature variations, and meets marine certification standards for cabinet-based DIN-rail or rack-mount installation.
Over-load limitation for load protection
Built-in current limits apply both to each individual channel and the overall system bus. This prevents excessive load stress to internal conductors and upstream power supplies, and ensures stable power supply to delicate automation electronic components.
