Valmet D202652L (ACN MR G2 Controller) Hardware Composition
1. Main Processing Unit
This unit uses an industrial high-performance CPU as the core computing component. It executes control logic, closed-loop PID regulation, sequential programs and interlock algorithms. An integrated hardware watchdog circuit will activate fault alarms and switch outputs to preset safe states if the CPU locks up or program execution becomes abnormal.
2. Memory Modules
Flash memory: Stores firmware, operating system, control projects, tag definitions and configuration parameters. It retains project data without power and supports firmware updates.
RAM: Serves as volatile runtime memory for program execution, temporary process values, alarm buffers and diagnostic logs. All data will be lost after power loss.
Optional external memory interface: Works with a dedicated memory card for project backup, fault log storage and on-site data recovery.
3. Backplane Bus Interface Circuit
Consists of high-speed parallel bus transceivers and a physical edge connector. It enables fast data exchange with local rack-mounted I/O modules to acquire field input signals and distribute output commands. The gold-plated edge connector ensures reliable electrical contact with the ACN MR G2 rack backplane.
4. Communication Interfaces
Industrial Ethernet controller circuit: Connects to upper-level HMI, engineering workstations and other controllers to transmit real-time process data, setpoints and alarm messages.
Redundancy synchronization interface: A dedicated hardware channel for data synchronization between primary and standby controllers, enabling bumpless automatic switchover under redundant architecture.
Internal diagnostic communication bus for module self-test routines.
5. Power Regulation Circuit
Onboard DC-DC conversion circuitry converts the DC voltage supplied by the rack backplane into multiple stable voltage supplies for the CPU, memory, communication chips and peripheral circuits. It incorporates reverse polarity, overcurrent and overvoltage protection.
6. Status Indicator & Local Debug Interface
A set of front-panel LEDs indicates power status, run status, faults, communication activity and redundancy state. A dedicated local maintenance debug port is reserved for engineering tools to retrieve diagnostics, download programs and perform firmware flashing.
7. Hardware Diagnostic Circuit
An independent sampling diagnostic circuit continuously monitors CPU operation, power rail voltages, memory read/write integrity, bus signal quality and communication link health. It captures hardware anomalies and records fault codes to support maintenance and troubleshooting.
8. Mechanical Structure & Protection
It is a standard rack-mounted PCB assembly fitted with upper and lower locking latches for secure installation in carrier slots. The printed circuit board is coated to resist moisture and dust. The module housing provides electromagnetic shielding to mitigate interference in pulp and paper mill environments.

Valmet D202652L (ACN MR G2 Controller) Functions
The D202652L is the central main controller for the Valmet ACN MR G2 control system, engineered for reliable process control within pulp and paper manufacturing.
Process Control Execution
It runs user-defined control logic such as closed-loop PID control, sequence control and equipment interlock protection, enabling stable automatic operation of auxiliary processes on paper machines.
Backplane Bus Communication
It conducts high-speed real-time data exchange with rack-mounted local I/O modules over the internal backplane bus. The controller acquires signals from field sensors and sends control instructions to site actuators.
Network Data Interaction
It communicates over Industrial Ethernet with upper-level HMIs, engineering workstations and other controllers. It exchanges live process values, setpoints, alarms and diagnostic information to realize data integration between upper and lower systems.
Fault Diagnosis & Alarm Processing
It performs full-range self-diagnostics for hardware health, bus communication and program execution. Fault alarms are generated automatically with detailed diagnostic logs saved to speed up on-site troubleshooting and maintenance.
Redundancy Operation Support
It supports dual-controller redundant architecture. Real-time data synchronization is maintained between primary and standby units to achieve bumpless automatic switchover and sustain uninterrupted production.
Program Storage & Configuration Management
Control logic, tag definitions and system parameters are stored locally. Professional engineering software enables online upload, download and remote firmware upgrade of the controller.
Hardware Watchdog Protection
An onboard independent watchdog monitors operation. In the event of program errors or CPU lockup, the controller raises a fault alarm and drives outputs to preconfigured safe states to safeguard field equipment and process safety.
