HIMA F8621A Coprocessor Module Technical Specification
Input and Output Interfaces
1. Internal Interface
No physical external digital or analog input/output terminals for field signal connection. It communicates with the main safety CPU through backplane bus by adopting dual-port RAM internal data interface for high-speed data exchange between coprocessor and main controller.
2. External Communication Interface
2-channel galvanically isolated RS-485 half-duplex serial ports are provided as external physical interfaces. Galvanic isolation protects internal system circuit from ground loop interference and surge disturbance coming from field serial devices.
Supported Systems, Software and Communication Protocols
Applicable Hardware Platform: HIMA H51q series PES safety controller only; the module cannot work independently and must be inserted into standard H51q rack together with main CPU module.
Configuration and Programming Tool: HIMA ELOP II engineering software. Users complete hardware parameter setting, serial port configuration and firmware download for F8621A within this software environment.
Available Serial Protocols: Standard Modbus RTU master/slave protocol; user-defined custom serial protocols supported by loading dedicated coprocessor firmware.
Electrical Parameters-Voltage and Current
Power Supply Source: Powered by 5 VDC backplane bus of HIMA rack, no separate external power supply terminal.
Typical Operating Current: 360 mA under 5 VDC rated operating condition.
RS-485 Port Feature: Each serial channel is electrically isolated. Baud rate is configurable in range from 300 bps up to 57600 bps; supporting common serial frame formats including data bit, stop bit and parity adjustment.
Safety Certification
SIL 3 compliance according to IEC 61508 functional safety standard. SIL3 safety performance is valid only when deployed in fully qualified and verified H51q safety system configuration.

HIMA F8621A Wiring Instruction
Internal Rack Connection
The F8621A coprocessor module shall be inserted into a standard slot of the HIMA H51q rack.
Power input and internal data communication are completed through the backplane connector, and no external power wiring is needed.
High-speed data interaction between this module and the main CPU is implemented via the backplane dual-port RAM interface.
Take ESD protective measures before handling the module. Insert or remove the module only when the rack power supply is switched off.
External RS-485 Interface Wiring
Two galvanically-isolated half-duplex RS-485 ports are available via male DB9 connectors on the front panel:
Port 1: DB9-1 (Communication Channel 1)
Port 2: DB9-2 (Communication Channel 2)
DB9 Pin Assignment for RS-485 Half-Duplex:
Pin 2: RS-485- (A / Data-)
Pin 3: RS-485+ (B / Data+)
Pin 5: Isolated signal ground
Remaining pins are unused and shall be kept unconnected.

Field Device Wiring Requirements
Deploy shielded twisted-pair cables for RS-485 bus wiring. The cable shield should be earthed to cabinet protective earth at one single end to eliminate ground-loop risks.
Two-wire half-duplex connection: connect field device RS485- to Pin 2, field device RS485+ to Pin 3; link signal ground (if provided by field equipment) to Pin 5.
For multi-drop bus topology, fit 120 Ω termination resistors at both physical ends of the RS-485 bus.
The maximum permissible cable length varies according to baud rate settings; lower baud rates allow longer transmission distances.
Critical Wiring Precautions
This module provides no digital or analog field I/O terminals; only two isolated RS-485 serial interfaces are available for external equipment connection.
Never apply 24 VDC or any other power signals to DB9 pins, as this will cause irreversible hardware damage to the module.
All field wiring must conform to local industrial installation specifications and the official HIMA safety system installation manual.
Upon completion of wiring work, configure serial communication parameters including baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits and Modbus RTU master/slave mode within the ELOP II engineering software.
