FBM217 RH101DF FOXBORO I/O Specification

Input: This is a 32-channel group-isolated discrete input (DI) module with no local output channels. It accepts 2-wire field signals including dry-contact sensing and voltage monitoring. Supported field signal voltage ratings cover 30 V DC, 125 V DC, 120 V AC and 240 V AC when paired with the matching RH101DF termination assembly. Per-channel typical input current is 2.2 mA at 30 V DC; logic-on threshold current ≥2.1 mA, logic-off threshold current ≤1.2 mA. Galvanic isolation exists between the field-wiring side and module fieldbus interface. Input filter/debounce time is configurable within 4 ms to 255 ms for noise suppression. Module supply voltage is 24 V DC (+5% /-10%), maximum power consumption reaches 3 W.

Output: No physical field-side output channels. Only digital status data of discrete inputs is transmitted to FCP/ZCP controllers via redundant 2 Mbps module fieldbus.

Remark: RH101DF serves as the dedicated termination assembly for FBM217, delivering signal conditioning, current limiting and surge-overvoltage protection for field input wiring. The module supports standalone operation or redundant paired deployment to satisfy high-availability DCS operating requirements.

FBM217 RH101DF FOXBORO Wiring Method

The FBM217 is a 32-channel discrete input module, while the RH101DF functions as its compatible DIN-rail-mounted termination assembly (TA). All field-wiring connections are terminated at the screw-type compression terminals of RH101DF. The FBM217 module communicates with RH101DF through special dedicated system cables, and no field cables shall be directly wired to the FBM217 module.

System-side interconnection

Mount the FBM217 module onto the FBM baseplate. Deploy Type 4 (37-pin D-sub) termination cable to realize electrical connection between the FBM baseplate connector and D-sub interface of RH101DF, with maximum allowable cable length of 30 m. For redundant architecture equipped with dual FBM217 modules, fit RH926ZY redundant adapter on the baseplate, and use one Type 4 cable to connect the adapter to RH101DF termination assembly.

Field signal wiring (2-wire discrete input)

RH101DF is equipped with compression screw terminals for all 32 DI channels. Supported wire specifications: solid or stranded conductors ranging from 0.2-4 mm² (24-12 AWG); stranded wires with ferrite terminals cover 0.2-2.5 mm².

-Dry contact input: Wire field dry-contact switches between target channel terminals and corresponding common return terminals on RH101DF. Sensing current is internally supplied by termination assembly circuitry.

-AC/DC voltage-monitor input: Terminate two-wire field loops (30 V DC /125 V DC /120 V AC /240 V AC) to respective channel terminals and matched common return terminals. Built-in current-limiting, surge-suppression and group-based galvanic isolation circuits are integrated within RH101DF, eliminating demands for additional external fuses under standard operating conditions.

Power connection

The RH101DF termination assembly needs no independent field-side power source. The 24 V DC working power for the module is delivered via the backplane bus of FBM baseplate.

Grounding requirement

Hook up the protective earth terminal of RH101DF to cabinet protective ground bus for reliable surge protection. Keep electrical isolation between field-side signal ground and DCS system ground.

Wiring note

Each channel applies two-point wiring scheme. Signals of different voltage ratings cannot be mixed inside a single isolation group. Signal cables should be routed separately from high-power cables to guarantee anti-interference performance.
