Mounting Method of ELAU SM-100/40/080/P1/45/S1/B0

Standard Mounting Form

This servo motor adopts standard IEC IM B5 front flange mounting with a 100mm square flange, supporting horizontal, vertical IM V1 and IM V3 installation on machine frames, gearboxes and linear modules. Foot-mounted structure is not available.

Mechanical Assembly Steps

Insert the 45mm keyed motor shaft into coupling or gear input port, attach the flange tightly to the mounting plate, then tighten four flange bolts with standard torque to eliminate axial clearance. Use elastic couplings to absorb vibration and avoid rigid connection with heavy loads.

Mounting Orientation & Heat Dissipation Rules

All installation angles are allowed. As the motor relies on natural air cooling without a cooling fan, keep a minimum 50mm clearance around the housing for heat dissipation. Do not block heat-emitting surfaces or place the motor near high-temperature components.

Grounding & EMC Installation Rules

Complete protective earth connection on the dedicated flange grounding terminal prior to power wiring. Secure cable shields to the metal machine frame with single-point grounding to suppress electromagnetic interference. Separate power cables and encoder signal cables during wiring.

Connector Installation Notes

Two straight B0 connectors for power and encoder are arranged on the motor side. Reserve enough lateral space for plugging and unplugging cables without sharp bending. Avoid installing the motor with connectors facing downward to prevent liquid damage to plugs.

Environmental Installation Limits

For indoor use only with ambient temperature ranging from -20°C to +40°C. Do not install in areas with heavy cutting fluid splashes, corrosive gas or persistent intense vibration. When mounted vertically, matched shaft seals are required to maintain IP65 housing protection.
