Communication Options of DEIF PPU-3

PPU-3 adopts modular communication design, most protocols are implemented via optional plug-in communication cards, which supports flexible integration with engine ECUs, PLC, SCADA and power management systems.

RS-485 (Option H2): Supports Modbus RTU / Modbus ASCII. It is the most widely used serial interface for reading electrical measurements, alarms, status and writing setpoints from DCS or PLC. It can form multi-drop bus network for multiple genset controllers.

Profibus DP (Option H3): Industrial fieldbus option for connecting to mainstream PLC systems, used for high-speed cyclic exchange of generator status, protection signals and control commands.

CAN bus options: J1939, CANopen, MTU MDEC and ADEC engine interfaces. It directly communicates with diesel engine ECUs to fetch engine speed, oil pressure, coolant temperature, running hours and fault codes. CANshare (Option G9) is a DEIF dedicated CAN load-sharing solution, which monitors load-sharing line faults and realizes digital load distribution among multiple PPU-3 units.

Ethernet option (Option N): Supports Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP. It enables networked data transmission, remote configuration and monitoring, and can build ring network for redundant power management systems. It allows access via DEIF PowerSetup software over LAN.

USB service port: Local service interface for direct connection with PC. It is used for parameter configuration, firmware upgrade, log export and calibration through PowerSetup software, not designed for permanent control network communication.
