1. Protocol Conversion & Communication Gateway
This module acts as a dedicated Modbus RTU coupling unit for ABB Advant OCS/AC450 control systems. It converts the internal backplane bus protocol to standard Modbus RTU (RS-485) protocol and enables reliable bidirectional data communication between the main DCS controller and third-party field devices. It acquires real-time process data from Modbus slave equipment and distributes host control commands to on-site field units.
2. Multi-Type Field Device Integration
It supports connection and data interaction with a wide range of Modbus RTU slave devices, including process transmitters, variable frequency drives, auxiliary PLCs, power meters, and remote I/O modules. The module allows the main control system to directly access external device measurements, operating status, and parameter information without additional intermediate conversion hardware, simplifying field system architecture.
3. Standard Analog Output Processing
The unit provides configurable 4-20 mA industrial current loop outputs. It converts internal digital process values into standard analog signals to drive on-site indicators, recording instruments, and field display devices. The module supplies loop driving voltage independently within the rated load range to ensure stable analog signal output.

4. Discrete Relay Alarm & Status Output
Equipped with isolated dry-contact relay outputs, the module transmits system discrete signals including equipment fault status, process alarms, and interlock trigger commands. It is capable of driving external field auxiliary devices such as alarm lamps, buzzers, and switching circuits. The relay contacts are passive without built-in power supply.
5. Full-Range Galvanic Isolation Protection
Complete galvanic isolation is deployed between the controller backplane logic circuit, RS-485 communication interface, analog output channels, and relay output terminals. 7. On-Site Data Pre-Processing
The module undertakes local auxiliary data processing functions, including signal scaling, value limit detection, and data filtering. It reduces the data calculation and processing load of the central DCS controller. Meanwhile, local data buffering is supported during temporary communication interruptions to guarantee process data continuity.
