microSD card slot for importing configuration backup files and firmware recovery.
Hardware Outputs
Dual-band 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz 802.11abgn Wi-Fi radio output with maximum transmit power of 20 dBm, used to transmit Ethernet and encapsulated serial data to remote field devices.
Gigabit RJ45 Ethernet output for forwarding wired industrial network traffic.
RS232 serial output delivering encapsulated serial data to local serial field hardware.
RF signal output through three RP-SMA antenna ports.
Front-panel LED diagnostic outputs indicating power condition, Ethernet activity, serial communication status, operating mode and wireless signal strength.
Built-in EtherNet/IP and Modbus server, which reports wireless-module diagnostic data to upper-level PLC or monitoring systems.

ProSoft RLX2-IHNF-E Application Cases
Automotive Assembly Production Line
Configured as paired industrial wireless access point and client, the RLX2-IHNF-E builds wireless EtherNet/IP connections between robot end-of-arm tooling and central Rockwell PLC controllers. It replaces slip-ring wiring for movable tool assemblies to transfer real-time parameter configurations, safety interlock signals and production status information. Operation on the 5 GHz dual-band mitigates radio interference generated by on-site welding equipment.
Warehouse Logistics & AS/RS Automated Storage System
Multiple RLX2-IHNF-E access points are installed along rack aisles, while client-mode radios are equipped on AGVs and stacker cranes. Its fast-roaming feature enables seamless hand-off as mobile hardware moves across overlapping coverage areas. Navigation commands, safety-relevant I/O signals and inventory information are transmitted wirelessly with minimal communication interruption.
Water & Waste-Water Remote Pump Station Monitoring
This unit serves as a wireless bridge for geographically dispersed lift pump stations. One RLX2-IHNF-E client is deployed at each remote pump house to link local PLC hardware together with flow and level measurement instruments. Process metrics and alarm notifications are forwarded wirelessly to the main-site SCADA platform, removing high-cost civil works for trenching and fiber-optic cabling across scattered field locations. The RS232 serial-over-IP function supports legacy Modbus-RTU pump controllers.
Mining Bulk-Material Conveyor Monitoring
At open-pit mining facilities, the RLX2-IHNF-E facilitates wireless data exchange for belt conveyors, crushers and screening machinery. It conveys motor operating conditions, bearing temperature readings and fault alarms from field remote-I/O modules to the central control room. Its broad operating-temperature tolerance withstands dust, mechanical vibration and severe electromagnetic interference typical of mining environments.
Offshore and On-Site Oil-Gas Auxiliary Monitoring
Suitable for non-hazardous-area auxiliary monitoring on offshore platforms and on-land well pads. It establishes wireless links for local HMIs, variable-frequency drives and auxiliary-equipment PLCs. Built-in Modbus and EtherNet/IP server functions allow upper-level PLCs to retrieve radio diagnostic data directly, streamlining wireless network troubleshooting.
Food & Beverage Processing Plant
Housed inside control cabinets for filling and packaging lines, the RLX2-IHNF-E delivers reliable wireless connectivity for rotary filling machinery and removes failure-prone drag-chain cables. Real-time production counters, valve feedback and equipment fault reports are sent to the host control system. Its robust industrial-grade EMC capability adapts to electrically noisy workshop conditions caused by large-capacity motors.
Port Container Crane Mobile Control
RLX2-IHNF-E operating in client mode is fitted on mobile container gantry cranes and communicates with stationary access points arranged along crane travel routes. It supports uninterrupted wireless transmission of crane control signals, HMI operational data and on-board high-definition surveillance video. Fast roaming maintains stable communication throughout the full travel range of cranes.
