Supply: 24 VDC ±10%
Digital Inputs (PLC → ThinkTop)
DI1: Valve Open Command (Solenoid 1)
DI2: Valve Close Command (Solenoid 2, double acting actuator)
Signal type: 24 VDC PNP
Digital Outputs (ThinkTop → PLC)
DO1: Fully Open Position Feedback
DO2: Fully Closed Position Feedback
DO3: General Fault Alarm Output
Output type: PNP / dry contact selectable, max load 100 mA
Optional Communication Version (IO-Link)
No discrete DI/DO; All valve control, position feedback and diagnostic data transmitted via IO-Link communication.
ThinkTop Basic Simplified Variant
Digital Input: 1 channel for solenoid control
Digital Outputs: Open position feedback, Closed position feedback
If AAL7000 stands for transmitter device instead of valve control head:
Power: 18–36 VDC
Output: 4–20 mA 2-wire analog output, no digital discrete I/O.
Alfa Laval AAL7000 Commissioning Procedure
1. Pre-Commissioning Inspection
Check mechanical fitting: Ensure the ThinkTop unit is securely locked onto the valve actuator and the indicator pin is properly mounted on the valve stem.
Pneumatic check: Connect clean and dry compressed air; arrange air hoses with correct routing and avoid crossover. Nominal operating air pressure: 5–7 bar.
Verify electrical wiring:
Power supply: 24 VDC ±10%
DI1: Valve Open Command
DI2: Valve Close Command
DO1: Fully Open Position Feedback
DO2: Fully Closed Position Feedback
DO3: General Fault Alarm
Confirm no short-circuit exists and cable glands are properly sealed to maintain IP69K protection.
Remove the top cover to gain access to the SELECT and ENTER operation buttons.
2. Power-Up and Initial Status
Supply 24 VDC power to the unit. Flashing green light guide indicates the device is ready for configuration.
Steady red or yellow light: Inspect air supply, mechanical obstruction and wiring connections for faults.
3. Auto Setup
Press the SELECT button, followed immediately by the ENTER button to initiate Auto Setup.
The ThinkTop will activate its integrated solenoids, driving the valve to complete a full open-to-close cycle. It automatically detects valve stroke and saves position threshold parameters.
Do not interrupt the automatic valve cycling process.
Configuration completes when the light guide illuminates steady green.
Auto Setup automatically activates solenoid interlock, position monitoring and fault monitoring functions.
4. Alternative Configuration Methods
4.1 Flex Setup
Repeatedly press SELECT to navigate to the Seat Valve / Mixproof Valve menu.
Press ENTER to confirm the corresponding valve type.
Manually actuate the valve to fully closed position and store the position data.
Manually actuate the valve to fully open position and store the position data.
Save parameters and exit the menu.
4.2 Live Setup (For online valve replacement without air supply shutdown)
Access the Live Setup menu.
Transmit open and close commands via PLC to operate the valve.
The ThinkTop captures and stores actual valve position signals triggered by PLC instructions.
Save configuration after all position data is acquired.
5. Functional Test after Configuration
When PLC transmits Open signal: Valve opens and DO1 is energized to output open position feedback.
When PLC transmits Close signal: Valve closes and DO2 is energized to output closed position feedback.
Simulate faults (such as air supply loss or position timeout) to verify activation of DO3 fault output.
Confirm LED light guide status is consistent with feedback signals received by PLC.
Carry out seat lift function test (required for mixproof burst cleaning): Activate relevant seat lift parameters in the menu.
6. Optional Parameter Tuning
Position tolerance: Factory default ±5 mm; adjust if unstable feedback signals occur.
Fault delay timeout: Modify the value to eliminate transient false alarms.
Output mode: Select PNP or dry contact mode in accordance with the connected PLC.
Enable or disable seat lift monitoring function as required.
7. Final Acceptance
Perform continuous open/close cycling for 10 times. Verify stable feedback without false alarms.
Install and fasten the top cover.
Document commissioning date, configuration mode and all parameter settings for archive.
