Inputs, Outputs, and Interfaces
System Communication I/O
The controller does not feature physical, hardwired analog or digital channel terminals on its housing. Instead, its inputs and outputs are managed through high-speed communication interfaces.
Primary Interface (Input/Output Link): One 8-pin RJ-45 copper port dedicated to the primary DeltaV control network.
Redundant Interface (Input/Output Link): One 8-pin RJ-45 copper port dedicated to the secondary backup network line.
Field Device Capacity: Dynamically exchanges input and output data signals with up to 750 Device Signal Tags (DSTs) across conventional I/O sub-carriers, electronic marshalling component enclosures (CHARMs), or WirelessHART interface cards.

Emerson VE3008 Key Product Advantages
No-Configuration Addressing: The unit features plug-and-play self-addressing. When connected to the DeltaV network, it automatically claims a unique node address without requiring engineers to set manual hardware DIP switches.
On-Demand LED Identification: Maintenance teams can use system software to trigger a "flash" command on the unit's front-panel LEDs, allowing them to visually locate the exact module inside a crowded control cabinet instantly.
Automated I/O Sensing: Once powered on, the MQ controller automatically recognizes and binds all valid I/O interfaces connected to its carrier subsystem without requiring manual registration or manual driver loading.
Bumpless Redundant Hot-Swapping: Supports full 1:1 hardware redundancy. By installing two units on a redundant carrier, the backup controller remains online in standby mode and takes over plant control instantly if the primary unit drops out, preventing process downtime.
Industrial Grade Endurance: Engineered without fans or moving parts, and protected against wide temperature swings and hazardous explosive vapors, ensuring long long-term stability inside demanding chemical, manufacturing, or oil and gas facilities.

Emerson VE3008 Wiring and Mounting Configuration
Physical Mounting
The hardware utilizes a modular, plug-and-play profile. It mounts directly into the right-hand slot of a standard M-series 2-wide Power/Controller Carrier. It is anchored into place using a specialized controller module hold-down screw assembly to resist operational vibrations.
Wiring Approach
No direct field-instrument wiring lands on the VE3008 module itself.
Network lines are wired by connecting standard Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cables with RJ-45 jacks into the front communication ports.
Local power routing and internal LocalBus communication channels are completed automatically through multi-pin plug connectors on the back of the module when it is pressed onto the carrier backplane.
