Inputs

The Emerson A6110 serves as a 4-channel shaft relative vibration monitoring module within the AMS 6500 machinery protection system. Built in accordance with API 670 standards, it is engineered for critical rotating machinery such as steam turbines, gas turbines and centrifugal compressors.
Signal Conditioning & Data Acquisition
The module receives gap voltage signals transmitted from eddy-current proximity probes and matching driver oscillator assemblies. It performs high-precision signal conditioning, digital filtering and amplitude computation on raw sensor inputs to measure shaft relative displacement and vibration with respect to bearing housings. Four independent differential input channels allow simultaneous measurement of multi-orientation shaft vibration parameters.
Real-time Shaft Vibration Monitoring
It continuously monitors displacement values of shaft relative vibration. Multiple measurement modes including peak-to-peak and zero-to-peak can be selected to satisfy diverse monitoring demands. Dynamic vibration waveforms and static gap values are captured to assess the operational condition of rotating equipment.
Threshold Monitoring and Machinery Protection
Each channel supports configurable Alert and Danger alarm thresholds. Adjustable alarm delay and hysteresis features suppress false alarms induced by transient signal fluctuations. When vibration measurements surpass predefined limits, the module sends out alarm status to trigger interlock and protection logic.
Multi-form Signal Output
Buffered dynamic vibration signals are available via external terminals for offline waveform examination and spectrum analysis. Per-channel proportional analog outputs, namely 0/4–20 mA current and 0–10 VDC voltage, facilitate reliable data transmission to DCS, SCADA and local display units.
Module Self-Diagnosis
It autonomously detects sensor open circuits, cable defects, abnormal input signals and internal hardware malfunctions. Fault conditions are indicated through front-panel LED indicators and uploaded to the rack system to facilitate timely troubleshooting.
Backplane Data Communication
Real-time measurement readings, alarm events and configuration parameters are exchanged with other modules installed in the IMR6500 rack over the internal backplane bus, enabling centralized system monitoring and unified parameter administration.
