Bently Nevada 2300/20-CN Vibration Monitor

The Bently Nevada 2300/20-CN is a dual-channel machinery protection vibration monitor designed for less-critical rotating equipment, accepting two seismic/accelerometer/proximity sensor inputs and one speed/Keyphasor input, with two 4–20 mA analog outputs, two programmable alarm relays, three buffered BNC outputs, local LCD/LED display, and Modbus TCP communications over 10/100Base-T Ethernet, operating on 18–36 VDC for continuous online condition monitoring and protection of pumps, motors, fans, and compressors in industrial plants.

Bently Nevada 2300/20-CN Power and Input Specifications

Rated Supply Voltage: 24V DC nominal input power

Acceptable Voltage Range: 18V DC to 36V DC range tolerance

Power Consumption: Approximately 8 Watts maximum power consumption under full configuration load

Vibration/Proximity Inputs: 2 independent, configurable channels accepting inputs from 3-wire Proximitor sensors, 2-wire accelerometers, or velocity transducers

Speed/Keyphasor Input: 1 dedicated auxiliary channel supporting proximity sensors or magnetic pickups for shaft speed (RPM) or phase tracking measurement

Output and Communication Interfaces

Buffered Transducer Outputs: 3 front-facing coaxial BNC connectors providing clean, raw, un-isolated buffered voltage output signals (Channel 1, Channel 2, and Speed/Aux) for direct connection to portable dynamic signal analyzers and diagnostic instruments

Relay Outputs: 2 SPDT (Form C) programmable dry contact mechanical relays, factory-rated up to 5A at 30V DC or 240V AC for hardwired alarm and machinery safety trip interlocks

Analog Outputs: 2 configurable 4–20 mA current loop proportional outputs for seamless interface with distributed control systems (DCS) or programmable logic controllers (PLC)

Network Communication: 1 integrated RJ-45 Ethernet port supporting Modbus/TCP protocol layers for digital configuration, plant-wide asset networking, and status reporting

Wiring and Connection Methods

Bently Nevada 2300/20-CN  Wiring and Connection Methods

Terminal Interface Connection: Employs pluggable, removable compression screw-terminal blocks positioned at the top and bottom edges of the module chassis, supporting wire sizes ranging from 0.2 mm² to 2.5 mm² (24–12 AWG).

Sensor/Transducer Wiring: Requires high-quality, shielded twisted-pair or three-wire instrument cabling to connect field sensors to the bottom terminal strip, ensuring the cable shield is cleanly terminated to the module's instrumentation ground.

Network Wiring Requirements: Plugs directly via a standard Cat5e or Cat6 industrial Ethernet patch cable into the dedicated RJ-45 port for setup configurations using Bently Nevada software utilities.

System Grounding: Requires a short, low-impedance connection from the module's dedicated functional ground terminal directly to the structural panel ground plate to mitigate environmental electrical noise interference.

Bently Nevada 2300/20-CN Product Features

Dual-Channel Processing: Simultaneously performs independent vibration processing (such as peak-to-peak displacement, zero-to-peak velocity, or RMS acceleration) on both main measurement channels.

Autonomous Machinery Protection: Relays execute onboard control logic entirely independent of network availability, ensuring automated machinery trips still function even if the master network communication is disrupted.

Flexible Alarm Setpoints: Provides independently programmable Alert and Danger alarm thresholds for each channel with configurable delay timers to prevent false tripping caused by transient startup anomalies.

Onboard Diagnostic Logging: Internally maintains a chronological event list tracking system status changes, configuration alterations, and alarm trip updates.
